[Avcheck] Removing of long options?

I got some significant number of questions about
why avpcheck can't be compiled on FreeBSD
(getopt.h: no such file or directory).  So
the question: is it ok to remove long options
altogether, and be like compiled with
-DNO_GETOPT_LONG?  I personally prefer to
use *understandable* options (even in config
files I touch unfrequently, like postfix's
master.cf).  Or, it should be just packaged
properly, with something like configure script
and/or with it's own getopt (taken from
any gnu source)?
