Much of a muchness really. Depends on what you want to be clean; code or output.
Your code is going to produce a complete dataset from all appearances, where 
mine was 'not quite'.
I like the dump_group idea
In the end its your program, you need to understand the code.

I have had fun with this and found it useful to understand your code.
I owe you somewhat for the parser routines I am moving into my rbl-monitor app 
anyways.
