[rbldnsd] Using external application for data?

Hello,

I'm very new to rbldnsd and dnsbl in general, so please excuse me
if this is an ignorant question, but I was unable to find an answer
anywhere I looked:

Is it possible, for A lookup requests coming into rbldnsd, for the
program to forward the request to a program or script on the local
machine, and then return a positive or negative response based on
the output of the program or script (such as it returning a '0' or
'1', for instance)? Basically, just acting as the DNS front end for
A requests, and not actually using it's own data files for the
request? If rbldnsd cannot do this, does anyone know of a server
than can?

I realize this must sound really strange, but an honest answer is
requested, please.

Thank you.

Joe Kowalski
